Liverpool endured a frustrated evening at a wintry Anfield
They failed to take full advantage after rivals and defending champions Manchester City suffered a shock defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday.Still, the single point means Liverpool are now five clear of City at the top with 14 games left to play.Speaking on Thursdays Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, former Reds striker Saunders said: Its not a disaster for Liverpool.Theyve gained a point on City and theyve still not lost at home. It was decent performance, not great, but decent. Not like they usually do, but youve got to give credit to Leicester, they put everyone behind the ball and just defended well. When you look at the results Leicester have had against some of the top teams, theyre a match for anyone on their day.Klopp bemoaned the conditions following the game and appeared to blame the weather for his teams draw against the Foxes.Anfield boasts a heated pitch so, while the rest of Liverpool had struggled with the snow, the pitch was mostly clear. However, the snow began to fall and settle again just before kick-off which made for an icy surface, and Saunders admits the poor conditions played into Leicesters hands. It is easier to defend on a bad pitch, the Welshman added. The bad conditions favour the team who is trying to destruct not construct.
