talkSPORT host Simon Jordan calls on Premier League to consult select committees to hire Richard Scudamore’s successor
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has told talkSPORT he thinks an independent select committee should be brought in to appoint a successor to the Premier League’s executive chairman Richard Scudamore. The Premier League has yet to find a replacement for Scudamore, who stepped down from the post in November 2018.Scudamore held the post from 1999 to November last year1

Jordan labelled Scudamore’s post as ‘the best job in football’ and said how the massive broadcasting potential of the Premier League in the future means it could become ‘the Netflix of football‘.And speaking to talkSPORT’s Jim White, Jordan suggested that one reason the likes of Susanna Dinnage turned down the role was due to the power of the league’s ‘Big Six’ and called for an independent select committee to appoint the new chief exec.Jordan said: “Let me be clear this job [executive chairman of the Premier League] is the best job in football.“Anyone who doesnt have the gumption to do the job is a fool in my book.“This is the most exciting, exhilarating job you could want in sport so why no one wants it is beyond me. “But there are people like Bruce Buck heading it up who are part of the so-called Big Six who have got their own agenda and these people turning down the job will be lobbied by the Big Six.”Jordan expanded on his stance of why he believes Buck, the Chelsea chairman, should have no influence in the selection process. He added: “The football fraternity needs to go out and get independent representation and get a select committee and bring in the right people.“Do that rather than getting football people like Bruce Buck with a vested interest in Chelsea’s agenda selecting who gets the job.“Footballs got to own its own outcome and build its own platform and by becoming the Netflix of football you control your own destiny.”

In his Times column on Monday, Tony Cascarino said Sanchez has become a huge burden for United, likening his situation to Jack Rodwell's at Sunderland. Rodwell joined Sunderland from Manchester City for £10million in 2014 on a huge wage packet but endured a disastrous spell, which finally ended last year after he agreed to cancel his contract.
